Bodhi Kitchen Pvt. Ltd.
Established in 2012 in Kathmandu, Nepal
Our mission
is to bring a unique charm to familiar dishes, crafted from local Himalayan ingredients and inspired by Korean tradition. Led by chef JD and our team, we combine traditional flavors with creative techniques to reveal the essence of both cultures in every bite. We aim to offer a dining experience that is both comforting and surprising, rooted in the Korean and Himalayan connection while remaining open to global inspiration.
Business Projects
Jady Donky
The project embarked on its mission in the spring of 2012 in Kathmandu as a pioneering social project. Designed to empower Nepali women by imparting essential skills in logical thinking and practical proficiency through knitting training, our initiative served as a precursor to understanding the local culture before establishing our business. Presently, we are gearing up to relaunch our workshop in new locations across Nepal, continuing our commitment to women’s empowerment and skill development.
Around the Corner
The restaurant debuted in April 2014 within the serene confines of Standard Nursery in Kathmandu. Boasting a family-friendly atmosphere, it served as a charming garden restaurant, event venue, and hub for farm products. Regrettably, its doors shuttered in August 2015, succumbing to the harsh realities of disrupted supply chains induced by the border blockade following the earthquake on April 25, 2015
Oshell Food Bar
The restaurant was launched in April 2015, nestled in a quaint corner of central Kathmandu. This unique eatery redefined dining experiences, featuring an interactive setup where orders were taken, meals were cooked, and dishes were served over the bar, fostering a dynamic connection between customers and the skilled cooks trained to commercial cooking standards by Chef Jade. Unfortunately, the venture faced an untimely closure due to an accident involving Chef Jade, prompting the cessation of business operations.
Himal Kimchi
The brand emerged from the creative vision of Chef Jade in January 2020. Inspired to craft a range of bottled kimchi varieties, she began producing them in her own kitchen and distributing them through farmers’ markets and delivery sales channels. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent blockade, this period unexpectedly provided a favorable opportunity for the nascent brand to thrive. Today, Himal Kimchi has established a business location in Kathmandu, where it continues to expand its offerings beyond kimchi, venturing into a diverse array of preserved and fermented food products.
